Polishing Rocks Productions in association with NYU Tisch Asia is casting actors for “Frankincense and Myrrh” a short graduate thesis film taking place in the Ann Arbor and surrounding metro areas from December 9th-18th, 2011.

Synopsis:

It’s Christmas, 1980. Down and out working class guy, Archie Bemis, is navigating the waters of his recent divorce. Despite the fact that his ex-wife is on her way to Mexico with her fiancé, and that his two boys would much rather be going with her and their cool, new, dad-to-be, Archie is determined to pull through and redeem himself by giving his boys the best Christmas ever.

Available Roles:

• Archie Bemis: Caucasian Male, mid to late thirties. Archie is tough but tender, unrefined, and slightly unkempt.

• Ted Bemis: Caucasian Boy, nine to eleven years in appearance. Looks reflect both an awkwardness of preteen origin and a glimpse of an emerging troublemaker that manifests in teasing and sarcastic insults. (Parental contact required)

• Jerry Bemis: Caucasian Boy, seven to ten years in appearance. Long hair with a bright and sweet demeanor. (Parental contact required)

• Betsy Bemis: Caucasian Woman in her thirties. Archie’s ex-wife. Calm and businesslike without being mean. She is just beginning to see herself as attractive and is making the extra effort to show off her beauty.

• Grandma Bemis: Caucasian Woman, sixties to seventies in age. A heavy smoker and drinker whose habits are beginning to show some strain on her appearance. She is friendly and means no harm in her teasing.

• Aunt Gertie: Woman in her sixties or seventies. Thin and small, her personality is a bit of a mystery to those who know her.

Compensation:

Actors will be compensated for travel; daily meals provided on set. All actors will receive a finished copy of the film, film credit, and a small stipend upon wrap.

“The Last Meal” is 15-20 minute short film that has begun casting for principal roles. Actors should be able to commit to working the weekends of October 21st-23rd October 29th-31st and November 4th-6th In the southeast Michigan Area. Contributors to this film have been apart of feature length projects such as “Scream 4″ and “AWOL”.

Synopis:

A dark yet uplifting film about a young college graduate (Clark) who has begun working as a prison cook to pay the bills. When he gets a strange last meal request from a death row inmate (Vince) he becomes intrigued and goes on a journey to find the humanity in a so-called monster.

Available Roles:

• Klark: Will play role of an ambition young man, ages 18-25, who after becoming close to a prison inmate must do what he can to make sure that they receive their last meal request before their execution.

• Vince: Will play role of a middle aged to older male who is a convicted felon on death row. After spending more than a decade in solitary confinement as he awaits his execution date, Vince is less than eager to share his story and spends most of his time making origami shapes as a way of keeping his sanity.

• Grace: Will play role of a cautious adult, can play 25-30, one of Klark’s co-workers and acquaintances who helps Klark adjust to the prison cook life. When Klark decides to investigate one of the prison inmates, she must decide if she wants to overlook her personal views on crime and criminals and help Klark in his quest or remain apprehensive about helping someone deemed a “monster”.

• Officer Colleen: Will play role of a woman who can play someone in her middle ages. Officer Colleen is dignified and passionate about her job. She cares about the inmates and upholding the laws and standards of the prison system. She becomes integral in the budding relationship between Klark and Vince.

• Mac: Will play role of a middle-aged man, who is the arrogant, conceited head chef at the prison. After a mishap at a former restaurant, Mac takes out his frustrations on the kitchen staff especially Klark. Mac is determined to uphold his personal standards and because of this finds Vince’s request unworthy and offensive to his own admiration and standards.

Casting Call for Horror Film Sequel

Casting actors and actresses for the upcoming horror sequel to “Dark Night of the Pumpkinman”. Director Britton Stebbins needs people who can act. He is looking for intense people that work fast. Plot:

The concluding sequel to the low-budget thriller “Dark Night of the Pumpkinman” released in 2011. The small Midwestern town of Rockford is still haunted by the serires of unknown killings in the area. Previous portagonist Jim Trumbull mysteriously disappeared last Halloween only trying to find enough evidence of who killed his sister seventeen years prior. Now the one and remaining sybling Teri has locked into the real killer that has been terrorizing Rockford for years. Consequently she might not be aware of who she is up against. Will Teri solve the greatest mystery in years and be ready when the killer strikes? Or will her naivety cost her her life?
