On December 11th, 2011 Dog at My Feet Productions will be filming the final scenes to the short film “Goodbye, Walt” and are looking for about 30-50 extras for a fundraising scene. This is a non union film. Filming is scheduled for Livonia, MI.

Available Roles:

  • 30-50 Extras: Male or female, 21 and older, open ethnicity.  People for a fundraising scene. (Most extras will not be needed the full day.)

Compensation:

There is no pay as this will be going to film festivals.

The website BeYourOwnHollywood and Joel Paul Reisig will be holding an open casting call for the feature length comedy, “A Dog for Christmas”.  The film to be filmed in Rockford, MI in January 2012. “A Dog for Christmas” stars include Sherman Hemsley, star of the popular sitcom, The Jeffersons, Dustin Diamond of Saved by the Bell, and Richard Karn of Home Improvement.

  • Dave: Male Lead. Jewish or Jewish looking, 35 – 50. Must have great comedic timing. Only experienced actors for this role.
  • Janet: Female lead. Age 32 – 45. Caucasian, female actress with a strong background in film acting
  • Grandpa: Grumpy old Jewish man. Comedic timing and dramatic
  • Matt: Bit of hard edge to him, a manager or small business owner on his brief vacation. 35 – 50
  • Susanna: Amazing character role for the right actress! 30 – 50. Ex party girl who is now a bit burnt out, she’s borderline crazy, possibly homeless, and always a bit buzzed. Would have been really hot ten or so years ago.
  • Tom: Black male, 35 – 45. Calm, educated, suburban dad.
  • 3 Women to Play Wives: Ages 30 – late 40s. Limited lines but screen time and scenes, strong improv skills are a plus.
  • College Guy: Good looking, must be a strong ice skater and willing to do his own stunts. One day of shooting, about three lines.
  • Hostess: Asian women with a very strong accent. 18+ years old – One day of shooting, full back and forth scene.
  • Waiter: Asian man, any age, with very strong accent. 18+ years old
  • Check Out Girl: Girl working at the grocery store. Age 18 – 25
  • Wesley’s Wife: African American woman, age 60 or over
  • Office Worker: Male 30 – 60
  • Officer Worker: Female 30 – 60
  • Office Boss: Male 45 – 65

Musical Theater Announces Talent Search For Actor, Dancers, Chorus Vocalists

Friends of the Opera of Michigan (FOTO)

Friends of the Opera of Michigan (FOTO) is searching for a male actor, male dancers, and male and female chorus vocalists, to audition for its 2012 production of “The Most Happy Fella”, music and lyrics by Frank Loesser.

Set in 1927 in California’s Napa Valley, the show tells the story of a middle-aged vintner, Tony, whose mail-order marriage proposal is accepted under the girl’s assumption that the photo of his young, handsome foreman is her intended husband. She is hurt and humiliated when she learns the truth, but a loving understanding develops between them during Tony’s long convalescence.

The rehearsal schedule has not been determined as yet. Performance dates are Friday, March 30, and Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 8:00pm. The Most Happy Fella takes place at the Michael A. Guido Theater, a professional regional theater in the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, Dearborn, Michigan.

Casting 5 Actors for Speaking Roles

The shooting schedule is not locked down yet, but the window is December 10-22. Final schedule will of course depend on actor availability and location restrictions, but ideally we will be shooting on the 18th and 19th. The script is three pages long, with five speaking roles.

  • Daniel: mid-to-late 20s, brown hair, scruffy, wears glasses, has a hint of artsy about his person, must play piano (preferably well)

  • Samantha: long, dark hair, brown eyes, a little bit hipster

  • Man: bearded, dark-haired, and comfortable in flannel

  • Woman: blond, no frills (jeans and T-shirt vibe)

  • Waiter: alive and well (this character has a line, but is not central to the story- essentially what we’re looking for here is interest and availability)

Compensation:

All actors will be fed while on set, but this is not a paying gig. Actors are of course welcome to use the footage for demo reels and such. The main purpose behind this film is really just artists creating their own opportunities to make more art. We want to be improving our craft and to encourage others to improve and grow along with us.
