Casting Call for Short Fiction Film

Casting the four main characters in a Grand Valley State University Senior Thesis film. The project is a 15 minute short fiction film. Auditions are being held on September 23rd and 24th on the GVSU Allendale Campus. Shooting is scheduled around the last three weekends in October 2011.

Audition Details:

Friday, September 23rd from 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Saturday, September 24th from 10:00am – 12:00pm (noon)

Plot:

James is a man with precognitive abilities. Using his ability for little more than observing and directing his own future, James is approached by a company, offering to help James use his abilities in exchange for his assistance. James then sees that he is not the only one with an ability, but also that the people that offer to help him are not interested in his wellbeing. James then experiences first hand what kinds of differences his own choices can make, and that sometimes he cannot change the future.

Available Roles:

  • JAMES: Looking for a male actor age 20-30. Having recently discovered his precognitive ability and seeing the blunders made by his “peers” at work, James has begun aiming for a better position. Aside from this immediate goal however, he has not thought of what he wants to achieve, but quickly realizes that he can achieve nearly anything. He is not easily surprised as he can see many versions of the future and can often predict what will happen next. (James – Audition Script)

  • AGENT HAYS: Looking for a male actor age 25-35, athletic. He is a stoic private security agent who works for a research facility that monitors and recruits individuals with extraordinary mental abilities. Though having no special powers of his own, this character uses his resourcefulness and experience to match his peers and opponents. (Agent Hays – Audition Script)

  • AMY: Looking for a female actress age 18-25 to play a college student recruited by a research facility for her empathic abilities. Though she works with/for the company, she quickly forms an attachment to James because of the similarity in circumstances relating to their mental abilities. She is quiet and kind but becomes overwhelmed when emotions flare (her own or anyone else’s) because of her ability. (Amy – Audition Script)

  • DR. BENNETT: Looking for a male actor age 40-65 to play a pleasant and often humorous doctor at a research facility that has taken it upon themselves to monitor and recruit individuals with extraordinary mental abilities. Though he does tend to be light hearted, he is very serious and dedicated when it comes upholding what he sees as right and good. (Dr. Bennett – Audition Script)

Compensation:

Food will be provided during shoots and open to discuss compensation for gas.
